The City of Muskogee Public Works Department Stormwater Division is seeking artists, contestants, etc., ages 13 and older to submit original artwork or designs that can be painted on storm drains in the Art/Depot District on April 22, 2017.
An informational packet located on the City of Muskogee’s website under the Stormwater Management tab, will provide step by step instructions to submit designs. A panel of judges, comprised of members from the Muskogee Art Council, Depot District, and A More Beautiful Muskogee, will select the designs which will be used for the storm drain art.
As a way to raise awareness about stormwater pollution to our local waters, designs should be focused on water quality, pollution prevention and the impact of collective actions on local waterways. Designs should adhere to the following criteria:
- Designs must incorporate the drain and be painted on the area surrounding the drain
- Designs may not contain any business promotions or advertisement
- Designs may not contain any breach of intellectual property, brands or trademarks, or depictions of illegal activity
- Designs may not incorporate any physical objects attached to the drains
- Designs must be public friendly
If the final design differs greatly from the proposed design, the City of Muskogee reserves the right to remove the artwork.
After selection and notification are made, the Stormwater Division will set up the work zones for the recipients to begin working on their designs. Upon request, assistance will be provided to those in need by providing paint and supplies.
Designs will be accepted February 10, 2017 through March 17, 2017, and can be submitted by mail to A More Beautiful Muskogee, P.O. Box 484, Muskogee, OK 74402 or via email at email@example.com.
