With the local schools starting classes back after the summer break, the Muskogee Police Department will begin increased patrols in School Zones in an effort to protect the safety of children walking to schools, and going to and from buses.
Beginning Thursday, August 16, we will have dedicated Officers in the school zones throughout town to enforce school zone speed limits, and those drivers who do not obey bus loading and unloading stop signs. The directive from Muskogee Police Chief Teehee is to have a zero tolerance for speeding in school zones. The increased patrols will continue through next week. This initiative is designed to increase the level of safety for the children in our community that would be going to and from school, and walking to and from the bus.
